Tips and Tricks ~ Red/Burgundy Eyebrows

red hair eyebrows

So….red eyebrows! I have been looking into the secret of it forever to avoid dyeing my brows as much as possible. I first began filling my brows in with “Fever” blush by MAC, which is the perfect burgundy and literally looks exactly like my hair color.

However, I am a fan of pencils to fill in my brows because I don’t like to have to have an angled brush, a shadow, a spray bottle, etc… just to get my brows filled in. I like to get on with my makeup as simple and quick as I can, since I fill my brows in every single day! It seems a bit of a hassle for me personally when I could just simple use a pencil and move on with my look. I also love the control the pencil gives me when redefining my shape and the strong edges.

If you are a fan of a more natural brow, shadow is definitely recommended, but not necessary. When filling in with a pencil, simple brush through afterward and it will soften the intensity.

For these brows, I used a bright red lip liner. It’s tricky to fill in with a lip liners consistency, but possible… there is just a bit of clean up involved.

I first brushed through a bit of foundation  through them then lined with the lipliner. I then took my brown eyebrow pencil and shaded in with that as well to darken the red. MAKE SURE YOU SET YOUR BROWS! I set mine with Fever by MAC. I then used Makeup Forever’s Full cover concealer to clean up and then brushed through them. *Trick* is to spray some hairspray on your brow brush to help keep the hairs in place!

My favorite trick with these brows, since I normally have my brows my natural dark brown color, is to fill them in this bright when my hair is FADING and I am in desperate need for a dye job! Yup. Red brows intensifies the look of red hair and makes it stand out more. This helps me last a bit longer without worrying about needing to dye my hair asap.

I recently just started filling in my brows with lipliner also and I’m having trouble with setting them. So you just put a little of Fever by MAC on them and that keeps them from smudging when you touch them?

Thank you so much for writing about this! It’s so hard to find other people that want red eyebrows and yours is lovely.
