YAAY! Happy 2 week fit anniversary! It feels good, doesn’t it?!
You meal looks fabulous, I gotta say. I love the baba ganoush, thats a great idea!
I find that I eat alot of ground turkey burgers (just lean ground turkey that I shape into a patty) and I put it on top of a plate of spinach and field greens with some dressing. For snacks I am loving greek yogurt.
Thanks for the post, love your blog!

(Hehehe I know! I noticed, I’m like hey… wrong post!!! :p) It feels GREAT!! That sounds delicious. I have actually been really looking into turkey burgers because I am such a fan of burgers and fries in general. I’m thinking turkey, whole wheat bun, and some sweet potatoe fries! :)

I just found your site today! Went and picked up some Rock n Roll red. I just dyed my hair Vampire Red a few weeks ago, not happy with the purple tones in it. I have to wait until tomorrow since I washed/conditioned my hair this morning, but I’m so excited. Hope it turns out ok.

How was your color when mixing Rock n Roll Red with Vampire Red? I have 3/4 of a jar of it left, hate to let it go to waste.

    • avatar Sara says:

Hello! :) Vampire Red was never my favorite color, I bought it once and never did again BECAUSE it’s dark and I am more into brighter reds, however, I have mixed it with Rock n Roll red before, it was fine, I just made sure to add more of the Rock n Roll than the Vampire red because I didn’t want it too dark!

If your hair comes out how you love it, I would love it if you sent me a photo! :) redhairphotos@yahoo.com

I am obsessed with your hair! I had been itching for a change and became obsessed with red hair. I researched all I could, and I finally did it. Sadly, I was too much of a coward to go for a bright red (I also don’t think I have the skin tone for the type of red I love). I went a little more “natural”. I used John Frieda Deep Cherry Brown, but I am not completely satisfied…I am trying to find a balance between the red I love and the color I am limited to because of where I work! I really love Cheryl Cole’s red hair, the deeper red. I am not sure how to get that though…Might need to head to the salon. Any tips?

    • avatar Sara says:

Definitely bring in a photo for them to be able to see what color you want. Also, I have noticed a lot more beautiful toned reds are achieved using semi-permanents or brands with more daring bright colors!

Sara, thank you so much for your reply! Update: I went to the salon and took a photo of what I wanted. They basically talked me into “glazing” my hair. Not sure what that means. The color did not turn out vibrant as I wanted it to be. My next step is to follow your directions using the Hi-Color Loreal in Magenta followed by the manic panic. However, I am looking for a color similar to the one in which you have in the picture where you mixed pillarbox red and purple haze (http://www.saraashouri.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Manic-Panic-Purple-Haze-and-Pillarbox.jpg). Will I get similar results if I do the HiColor first and then the manic panic mix? And lastly, currently my hair is a deep red, should I use 20 or 30 developer? Whew, I think that’s all! LOL I apologize for all the questions!

        • avatar Sara says:

(I am not a cosmetologist) It’s going to be tough to know what color your hair will turn out because it all depends on what color you have now. When I use colors such as purple haze, I already have a bright red base I am applying it over so it tints my already red hair. You want to make sure your hair can handle hicolor first so you don’t damage it. I would use a 20 developer because it will do less damage than a 30 vol. I hope it works out for you, please remember I am not a hair stylist so follow my advice at your own choice! This is just what I know through experience and picking my stylist’s brain. :)

          • avatar Luisa says:

You’re awesome! Thank you for your quick response! I understand you’re not a cosmetologist, but any tips are greatly appreciated. I’ll definitely use the 20 developer (my mom actually went to beauty school and she’s refusing to use 30 on me because she doesn’t want to damage my hair lol). I’ll probably take the plunge this weekend and I’ll send you an update :) Thanks again for all your help!

I want to dye my hair red something i’ve always wanted to do but never had the guts till now. Im not sure what to use, i stumbled upon your post on beauty lish my question is what do you reccomend me using? i want a Bright vivid red kinda similar to the colour in your blog/profile picture. I’ ve used punky colours on my hair before pink, blue and purple wich was actually from dying my hair over the pink with blue+conditioner for a pastel look i loved the suprise of the purple!! So im not new to dying my hair. I have blonde hair so the bleaching part is not a concern for me. I do only atm want a semi-permanent colour so i’d opt for the manic panic!! I like rihannas red hair too such a bright colour. Looked amazing on her.! :/ slightly confused as to where to go with what colours to choose? Any advice would be much appreciated and iam reading all your posts about red hair atm. Thanks, Jennii http://www.bellasugar.com.au/Rihanna-Rocks-Headscarf-Berry-Lip-Switch-Westfield-Christmas-Lights-London-11821346 i definetley love this colour the picture on the left..

    • avatar Sara says:

That is my FAVORITE picture of rihanna btw! Anyway, I remember reading somewhere that she used Manic Panic in Rock n Roll red (supposedly) but that was more so for her color in the Whats My Name music video. If you’re trying to go for that color, I think what I would do is mix Vampire red with Rock n Roll red and kind of eyeball it as to how the color looks in the bowl and determine it from there

Hey Sara. Your blog posts are so helpful for us wannabe redheads! I really like the Pravana Vivids, particularily the staying power, but I still can’t help but love the veggie dyes because they’re so dimensional. Do you know if it’d be alright to mix Pravana and MP or SFX? I know it’s alright to mix the latter two, just wondering if they would mix well with Pravana as well. No matter which one I use I usually leave it in for a longgggg time so mixing is much prefered over multiple applications

    • avatar Sara says:

Hello! You know, I have actually wondered this before myself. Honestly, I don’t think mixing Pravana with the semi-permanents is a good idea. Pravana does have another type of dye that is a semi-permanent and is similar to the Manic Panic type of deal (veggie dye). I’ve personally mixed MP & SFX together, but never saw a reason to do it with the Vivids. I would probably contact the company (Pravana) through their facebook. They are super helpful and usually respond quickly. You could always just apply the Pravana then touch up by adding the MP+SFX over it…but with Vivids, there is no reason to! Super vibrant and beautiful colors. I ditched Manic Panic because of it!

Hey there! I have a couple of questions for you. First of all your hair is AMAZING!
I have long light blonde hair and I’m wanting to go the exact same colour as the picture of your hair where you’re wearing the black and white skull blouse, I can see it on this page! I’m wondering how to get there because I NEED to be red haha. Also, my natural colour is a medium brown, how do you suggest I do my roots? I’ve read as much as I can on your blog but can’t seem to find the exact answers I’m after.
    Thanks so much! :)

    • avatar Sara says:

      Hello Olivia!

I am not a cosmetologist, so I would suggest you visit a professional in that field to help you on your route to getting the color you want for yourself. Since you already have light blonde hair, all I can say is that you won’t need to be lifting your color, you can just use something such as Pravana Vivids or Manic Panic on your hair as is and your color should be vibrant enough! For roots, I use L’oreal Hicolor in Red to lift. :)

hi sara i had a question ive had red hair for about two years now and its pretty bright but i can never get a true red like yours, my hair always takes more of a copper tone what can i do ?? help ;(

  9. avatar Cindy says:

I finally got my hair red and it’s very exciting. My hair was color corrected from a very damaged bleached blonde to a beautiful vibrant red. The color was done about 3 weeks ago and it’s fading. I was wondering if I can use a demi blonde over the permanent red hair color to bring out the red tones without damaging my hair. I would like to try and stay away from permanent hair color until my hair gets a bit more healthy. I would also like to do this myself to save money from going to the salon, what demi-permanent products do you reccomend if this is an option for me. Thank you so much !!!!!!!!!!!!

    • avatar Sara says:

Absolutely a great idea! A demi-red I know of is made my N’Rage which can be purchased at Sally’s. I believe the color is called Crimson red.

  10. avatar Cindy says:

    OOPS – I meant Demi-Red, sorry
