My Personal Skin Care Regimen To Help You Start Your Own!

I never quite understood how important a good and accurate skin care regimen was until I got into esthetics school. Whether you’re a male or female, it is really recommended that you get into the habit of at least washing your face daily to get rid of impurities caused by the environment and to use a broad spectrum SPF to protect your skin from the sun. It’s as basic as that to start out but by introducing other products such as moisturizers, serums, masks, and toners you can help improve your skin to its full potential.

It was definitely overwhelming for me at first to comprehend what everything does and why I should be using it. I started out slow in the beginning. It was simply cleanser and moisturizer. That was it. It took me months to accept the fact that I should even be using an eye cream!

However, with time, I finally created something that is beneficial to my skin type and my skin conditions. This is absolutely important to understand because the number one problem most people make is using incorrect products for their personal skin types and conditions. If you feel completely lost and you are serious about improving your skin you should visit an esthetician. Even if you go in for one facial you can get your skin analyzed and receive product recommendations from a professional.

I try to make my skin care as simple as it can be. These products will not work for everyone and not everyone needs these specific products. This is just to give you an idea of what you should eventually lead your product route towards (if you don’t already use important things like moisturizer or SPF). I still have a bit I want to add into my own regimen but it takes time to get there!

Before I start, I personally have very sensitive combination skin (oily in my T-zone and dry on the rest of my face) and I am prone to black heads. I am currently dealing with small areas to help lighten some post-acne scars.

  • Clarisonic PRO

I use this 2-3 times a week only with cleansers (I don’t want to over-do it with sensitive skin):

  • Murad Refreshing Cleanser
I use this daily to remove my makeup and to get a good cleanse without over-drying my skin. I use the professional bottle but it comes in a more convenient packaging for public purchases.

    • Murad Essential C Cleanser
This product is part of Murad’s Environmental Shield line. It is designed to help restore and renew sun and environmentally damaged skin while protecting it from new damage. I use this about 2 times a week.
    • Murad Vitalic Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser
This product evens out oily and dry zones, clears clogged pores and keeps combination skin in balance. I use this daily after cleansing my makeup or I will skip out on it the days I use the Essential C cleanser.
    • Cetaphil Moisturizer with SPF 15
I love this moisturizer because it is fragrance free, non-comedogenic, it is for all skin types, and includes SPF protection.

      • Murad Redness Therapy Sensitive Skin Soothing Serum
This serum aids in calming and soothing irritated skin while reducing redness and sensitivity. I use this product daily, especially after using the Clarisonic to help get a more concentrated product penetration.

        • Murad Post-Acne Spot Lightening Gel
I massage thisĀ  product into my skin only around my chin area where I have post-acne scarring. It also helps prevent new blemishes from forming!
        • Ayur-Medic Eye Cream
Their images are copyrighted so you may visit their site to view the product here. I also love many other of their products and mainly use their products on my clients!

*Disclaimer: Most products were purchased with my own money and certain products were sent to me. I genuinely like and use all these products and it does not interfere with my personal opinion. If I use it on my own face, I truly believe in the product enough to even have it get near my skin. :)

    Hi, Sara. :)
These products sound awesome! Especially the Murad Vitalic Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser. Although, having all those Murad products must end up on the pricey side. Do you know of any less expensive substitute for the Vitalic Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser? Thanks.

I am not sure I do know any cheaper alternative. I tend to believe in high quality skin care products, which we also learned in school are worth the pricey amount. You may be able to find something like a foam cleanser by Aveeno, but not so much a dupe of the product.
