Hopping on the crazy colored lip bandwagon; Learn how to achieve this season’s most popular trend.

In the order of the photos, I am wearing NYX in Shocking Pink, Lime Crime in D’Lilac, and OCC Liptar in NSFW and Beta.
Intimidating and crazy at first, bright and bold lips have become one of the top beauty trends this season. You can spot celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj wearing lipsticks in all sorts of shades. These intense and daring colors were inspired from New York’s runway looks that were seen from famous designers such as Jen Kao, Jason Wu, and Yohji Yamamoto.
The trick to wearing bold lips is to make sure that it is the focal point of your face. The goal is to make our lips stand out the most. Something as simple as a neutral eye and winged liner is perfect to bring attention to your lips, but still enhances your eyes as well.
The best way to apply lipstick (in any shade) is to first blend your concealer or foundation over your natural lip color to diminish any redness around the area. This will provide a neutral base for your lipstick color to stand out. You can choose to line your lips with a pencil similar to the color you are going to use, yet a natural colored lip liner is fine. If needed, apply the lipstick with a lip brush. Be sure to blot your lips with a napkin and re-apply some of the lipstick that was wiped off. This will help prevent your lipstick from running and ensure it lasts all day. To clean up, use a concealer with an angled brush to touch up the edges.
Beauty trends tend to change so often that it may not be worth to splurge on a lipstick color you don’t plan on wearing often. An alternative trick is to use eye shadow pigments for your lip color. To start, be sure to moisturize your lips with a lip balm. Pour some pigment onto a palette and give it a drop or two of a mixing medium or water and mix well. Using a lip brush to apply will help achieve a precise application. The only downside to using this technique is that the pigment may dry your lips out and not last as long as a lipstick would. However, this works well since you don’t have to buy many different lipstick colors.
The key to the trend is to remember that makeup has no limits and you can be as bright and colorful as you choose to be!
