PLEASE know that I am NOT a cosmetologist!!! I am only able to professionally answer questions about skin since I am an esthetician. Although I have learned so much from my personal stylist, Danielle Ullman, I still do not feel comfortable answering questions about getting you to this color from other shades such as blonde or black. Please consult a professional hair stylist for those types of questions. If you ask anything in that sort, I will tell you to ask a professional stylist.

Also, due to my busy schedule, responding to messages may take me a while. Your patience is appreciated!

Hi! I just found your blog while searching for Pravana Vivids hair color, and I must say you are beautiful! But, I have a question, I use retractable black eyeliner on my eyelids, and I’ve started to get the blending down on eyeshadow, but haven’t gotten it as good as you. What tips can you give me to get better at it? Thank you so much for your time!

    xoxo
    Nikki

Thank you so much! A tip I can give is to pull inspiration from whatever you can that is enough to have you practice looks as often as you can. There really is not much to it other than learning the skill. You will find what works for you through that! Good luck!

  2. Hi Sara,

We stumbled across you via the Allure beauty blogger contest! Good luck!!
We’d love to keep you on our radar. Please feel free to keep in contact via info@rescuerittenhousespa.com

Hello so I dyed my hair just today with the manic panic I got the wild fire it came out like a redish orange buht I kinda want it like your first pic but more red so can you help me.??

    Hi Sara,
I think you’re incredibly talented/beautiful and I was hoping that you could help me in recomending a particular foundation/concealer. I get dry skin and black heads around my nose area and the foundation I use seems to emphasize them individually as well as emphasize the dryness. I use primer and Revlon colorstay and it lasts/covers very well in other areas of my face just not on my nose. Thank you! X

    • avatar Sara says:

I used to have the same problem until I finally took care of the problem! I would look into getting a facial with extractions for your blackheads. They won’t all disappear at once, but I promise your nose will feel so much smoother and look a lot better. You’ll need to keep going to keep up with removing them, but you need to take care of your skin. As for dryness as well, you should be using a moisturizer and hydrating toners, drinking lots of water, etc to help take care of that. It’s worth it, trust me!

hey i read your maintenance on red hair and i had a few questions of my own..well i finally dyed my hair red and i used loreal highcolor highlights in magenta with a 20 volume developer…i had virgin black hair before using it..i followed all the instructions about how long i should leave it in before washing it out. but once i did my roots where the bright magenta i wannet but my ends and bottom of my hair where black with not such a vibrant red color as the top..now i dont know what to do because i dont like it…i want my whole hair the same color …dont know if i should re -dye it again with the same products next week since i dont want to damage my hair:( im kind of lost and i was wondering if you could give me some advice ..thank you.

    • avatar Sara says:

Please note I am not a cosmetologist. I believe you need to start dyeing your ends first and save your roots for last because your body heat on your scalp causes the dye to develop faster which gives you “hot roots” You need to be careful redyeing your hair with the Loreal Hicolor to make sure you dont damage it! Seek professional help in order to make sure you can go over it once again. As for going back to your natural color, it will be difficult because red is a hard color to get out. Your black may still fade into an orange color. If you’re going to a darker color, you never need to bleach. Dye over it

  7. avatar maria rojas says:

also what healthy steps would you recommend if i decided to go back to my natural hair color without bleaching it . thank you always for your help:)

one more thing i want my hair like ariana grande hair color and i seen you have that hair color too by the way its soooo beautiful on you!!

    Hi Sara,
I came across your blog through the Allure Beauty Bloggers Contest. I love this blog! Rather than completely dyeing my hair, I wanted to get highlights a few shades lighter than my deep brown hair color. How should I do this? Do I use a dye? Does that weird lemon in the sun trick work?
    Thanks,
    Autumn :)

    • avatar Sara says:

      Thank you so much!
You can definitely use dye. Look into Loreal Hicolor, it is normally used for hilights. You can find it at Sallys beauty supply

  10. avatar kim says:

Hey, what specific products do you find cover dark under eye circles and naturally red marks? Thankyou :)

    • avatar Sara says:

I have a post all about covering under the eye areas! Just skim through my blog, it should either be on the main page or second page. :)

hey i was woundering if you could give me advice about my red hair… i dyed my hair for the very first time …i used the loreal highcolor highlights in magenta with a 20 volume developer …my hair turn out a pretty velvet color on my roots just the color i wannet like ariana grande!!! but the ends where much darker than i wannet them..i was woundering if you could give me advice on how to get that velvet bright color for my whole head instead of just the roots..also what semi permanent color i should used to dye my hair red to keep it that nice color i want for in between touch ups ..before dying my whole hair again next month..thank you!!!

    • avatar Sara says:

I believe you need to start dyeing your ends first and save your roots for last because your body heat on your scalp causes the dye to develop faster which gives you “hot roots” You need to be careful redyeing your hair with the Loreal Hicolor to make sure you dont damage it!

Hi! I use Pravana Vivids too. I always buy it on ebay for $10+shipping a tube and I saw that you can buy it for $3.99 with your salon license. I was wondering if there was any way you could buy some and ship them to me and I pay you through paypal? Not really sure how it would work out. It takes me 2-3 tubes to cover my hair so $10 a tube gets pricey. Thanks! You can email me at kaylaherrera8@yahoo.com

    • avatar Sara says:

Pravana has actually increased their price, but normally my stylist provides the dye for me. This could also potentially put me at risk to lose my card to shop at their location. I am sorry! There is a link to another website on here (it may be on my Pravana FAQ article, or something on my Pravana posts) where someone posted a beauty website to purchase Pravana from. I believe the site may sell it for around $7-8.

      • avatar Kayla says:

Oh I had no idea that that could happen! It’s totally okay, I’ll buy it from imagebeauty.com. I bought it from them before but they didn’t tell me it was out of stock and so it took a month. Hopefully it’s faster this time! thank you.

        • avatar Sara says:

It may be possible because Pravana is a “professionals only” product! That’s unfortunate, you could definitely contact them first to ensure the product is stocked before ordering :)

    • avatar Sara says:

Thank you so much Hilary! Often times if I am being sent products, I will do a review on them if I find that they work for me or that I really enjoy the products/think they would benefit others. As an esthetician, I am always open to new skin care products to familiarize myself with the millions of skin products there are. If you are still interesting in offering samples, I would love to try the products out for myself. I took a look at the website and definitely see some products that look to be very useful! Thanks again and you may email me at SaraAshouri@yahoo.com if so.

Hello there ! I have a couple questions for you I want to see what you recommend as the best primer, I have have been using MAC prep & prime for the longest ? Also good primer for oily skin ? Thanks so much. FYI you have inspired me to get my hair red I love your color I cant wait to go through this transformation :)

    • avatar Sara says:

I absolutely love Smashbox primers! Especially for oily skin. You can ask Sephora for a sample to try to test it out for yourself. So glad to hear you’re excited for red hair! :) )

    Hi

I have naturally ginger hair, which over the years has toned down. For the past year, I have been dying my hair with Schwartzcoff XXL live berry passion. I now fancy a more intense red. I tried directions pillarbox red today over my permanent dye and the colour did not take. Do I need to strip the colour, or lighten my hair to achieve the intense red that I’m after. Any help gratefully received. :-)

    • avatar Sara says:

Dyeing over without prelightening will only tint your color so that could be why! Also if using manic panic I recommend leaving it in for an hour-2 hours. Let the color soak!
